at the end of july we rode from freiburg, germany to basel, switzerland. we passed through modern towns built around medieval castles, swam in the rhine, and rode nearly 100 miles in three days. the rolling hills of the black forest, speckled with tiny wine villages, proved to be challenging but of course, beautiful as well. we also had our first experience "wild camping."
