we left basel on august 2nd and started our swiss cycling adventure. surprisingly, switzerland is made for all levels of cycling, with various routes that take you through small towns, farm fields, along various rivers, and through forest and marshland. we spent a few nights "wild camping," stayed in an old castle that had been converted into a hostel (hence, the "philosophen stubli"), and rode through a town with a chocolate factory that poured the delicious smell into the air... we were always hungry. after nearly 140 miles in 4 days, we decided to stop and rest in solothurn.

p.s. for those of you that have known me for a while, what does the snake photo remind you of?

p.p.s. for those of you that have known me for a while, and have had the great pleasure of meeting my sister kirsten, doesn't my blurry face in the bug photo look freakishly similar to her?
